Abstract : Microwaves have become household appliances in many homes; they are used for heating food and other related products. This paper presents a system that is a Verilog model of a Microwave oven; The various modes of operation include normal cooking mode, defrost mode, reheating mode, and grilling mode. Each mode has its own power levels to emulate different heating processes and operate at their real-world conditions. For emulation of such operations, the design incorporates various states of actual microwave operations with the help of state machines. The system is complete with a digital clock to regulate the periods of cooking for better and more accurate control of cooking. Moreover, safety and user interaction in this model is enhanced by employing the door sensor, temperature sensor, and child lock function. Graphic simulations of users' interactions are performed on a detailed test bench to check the correctness of the model and the stability of the system. The design code was written and simulations were conducted using ModelSim for a thorough verification process.
