About

IEEE – Women in Engineering

IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) is a global IEEE affinity group that supports the growth and participation of women in engineering, computing, and technology. At Amrita School of Computing and AI, Bengaluru, the WIE chapter functions as a student-driven platform focused on building technical competence, leadership skills, and peer collaboration.

The club emphasizes practical learning by connecting classroom concepts with real-world applications through workshops, expert talks, and hands-on sessions in emerging technologies. With a strong focus on mentorship, skill development, and inclusive participation, IEEE WIE creates opportunities for students of all genders to learn, lead, and contribute effectively within the engineering community.

Activities & Events

IEEE – Women in Engineering

Activities:

The IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) Student Branch Chapter conducts a diverse range of activities aimed at fostering technical excellence, creativity, leadership, and social responsibility among students.

Flagship Event: Hackathon

Our flagship hackathon brings together students, developers, and innovators for an intensive problem-solving experience, where participants collaborate to design and build impactful solutions addressing real-world challenges within a limited time frame.

Technical & Awareness Events

The chapter organizes interactive induction and engagement events such as STEMpulse, designed to introduce students to IEEE-WIE through hands-on games, quizzes, and creative challenges. These events encourage interdisciplinary participation and highlight women-led initiatives in STEM.

Invited Talks & Knowledge Sessions

Expert-led technical talks, such as the invited session on analytics and business transformation, provide students with real-world industry exposure. These sessions bridge the gap between technical knowledge and strategic decision-making while inspiring leadership and career awareness.

Workshops & Competitions

Through events like Artifactory and Avengers – Tech Assemble, conducted during Aarohan, the club blends creativity with technology. These activities promote teamwork, problem-solving, innovation, and experiential learning through hands-on workshops and competitive challenges.

Hackathons

The annual flagship hackathon serves as a platform for students to ideate, innovate, and develop solutions within time constraints, fostering creativity, collaboration, and practical application of technical skills.

Membership Drives & Peer Learning

Regular membership drives help build an inclusive and motivated community. Initiatives like the Buddy System and peer-to-peer learning sessions enable mentorship, skill sharing, and leadership development among members.

Social Outreach

The chapter actively engages in STEM outreach programs for rural school students, conducting hardware-based learning sessions, basic electronics demonstrations, and creative problem-solving activities. These initiatives aim to promote STEM awareness and break stereotypes, especially encouraging young girls to pursue technology education.

Global Exposure & Professional Development

Members are encouraged to leverage IEEE’s global network for professional networking, technical learning, and exposure to international standards and best practices.

Documentation & Media Engagement

All activities are systematically documented with detailed reports, supported by an active media and marketing team to ensure transparency, continuity, and outreach through social media platforms.
