Prof. Miriam Reiner visited Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham and gave a talk on "Enhancing Human Potential through Brain, VR & Learning", at Amrita School of Engineering, Amritapuri on January 6, 2018.
Prof. Miriam Reiner delivered a lecture at Amrita School of Engineering, Amritapuri campus on topics relating to Neuro-Cognition, Neural Feedback learning and Virtual Reality. She made a presentation on her path-breaking work on Neural feedback learning for memory retention and skill development using virtual reality, apart from experiments conducted by her group to ascertain human intuition, embodied cognition, and haptics.
Prof. Miriam Reiner is the head of the Virtual Reality and NeuroCognition lab at the Technion- Israel Institute of Technology. Her work focuses on applications of Virtual and Augmented reality to enhance human performance, by inserting cues in the VR/AR that activate the relevant brain mechanisms. Examples are enhanced memory consolidation, spatial reasoning, insight and similar.
Her work applies brain research to virtual and augmented reality to enhance human learning, training, communication and performance. She served, in the EU Future Emerging Technologies committee to develop human-centered Presence in VR in Europe -- and has studied this since then.
The purpose of her work today is to identify neuro-behavioural mechanisms of enhanced learning and apply the findings to emerging virtual and augmented reality technologies for enhanced neuronal activations of learning.
Miriam is Associate Professor at the Technion and visiting Professor in Stanford CA.
