Dr. Ashutosh Dutta 

Dr. Ashutosh Dutta is a chief 5G strategist and sabbatical fellow at Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Lab (JHU/APL). He serves as director of the Doctor of Engineering program and is an associate research professor in the Department of Computer Science at JHU. With over 30 years of experience, Dr. Dutta has held prominent roles at AT&T, NIKSUN, Telcordia, Columbia University, NJIT, and TATA Motors. 

He has authored 120+ technical papers, holds 31 patents, and is a Fellow of IEEE. He co-founded the IEEE Future Networks Initiative and IEEE 5G World Forum, organizing over 90 5G Summits globally. He also chaired IEEE Industry Connection’s O-RAN and IPv6 activities and served as an IEEE Distinguished Lecturer and ACM Distinguished Speaker. 

Dr. Dutta has been honored with numerous awards including the 2025 Distinguished Odia Award, 2009 IEEE MGA Leadership Award, 2010 IEEE-USA Professional Leadership Award, and 2022 IEEE-USA George F. McClure Citation of Honor. He was also recognized with the 2022 IEEE North America Region Exceptional Service Award. 

He holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from NIT Rourkela, an MS in Computer Science from NJIT, and a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University. He is a member of IEEE-HKN and a Distinguished Member of ACM.
