Visiting Senior Fellow, The London School of Economics and Political Science
Dr. Labanya Prakash Jena is a climate finance specialist with over 20 years of experience spanning financial services, green finance, and international development.
He currently serves as a Visiting Senior Fellow at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and works as a Sustainable Finance Consultant at the Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis (IEEFA), alongside his role as a climate finance expert at the Asian Development Bank.
He is the principal investigator for NITI Aayog’s “Financing India’s Net‑Zero Targets” roadmap, and serves as advisor to Climate Trends and the Climate & Sustainability Initiative (CSI). His previous roles include leadership positions at CEEW, Climate Policy Initiative, Commonwealth Secretariat (as Indo‑Pacific Regional Climate Finance Adviser), UNDP, and the World Resources Institute.
Labanya holds an MA in Economics from Utkal University and is a CFA charterholder. He is also a Research Scholar at Xavier School of Management, Jamshedpur, India. He co-authored Net‑Zero Trio: Synchronizing Technology, Business, and Policy for Green Transition (Bloomsbury) and is an active writer and speaker on climate and green finance topics.
His research interests include transition finance in developing countries, sustainable finance policy, green industrial policy, and climate finance innovation. He frequently engages with policymakers and financial institutions to shape climate-resilient strategies and investment frameworks.
