The International Quizzing Association (IQA) is a global organization dedicated to promoting, organizing, and standardizing quizzing—a popular mind sport. Established to unite quizzers worldwide through high-quality quizzes, IQA also supports the creation and development of national quiz organizations. Its flagship event, the World Quizzing Championships, has been held annually since 2003, determining the world champion in quizzing.
In Asia, IQA operates as IQA Asia, with Dr. Anurakshat Gupta serving as the Director for the region. IQA Asia aims to make quizzing inclusive and accessible, transcending barriers of gender, region, religion, language, race, or culture. The organization focuses on leveraging quizzing as a tool for learning, skill development, and mental engagement. It also acts as the regulatory body for quizzing in Asia, addressing grievances, and organizing competitions to identify and honor champions at the district, state, and national levels.
In May 2023, IQA Asia launched its operations in India, choosing Kerala as the initial hub due to its high literacy rate and emphasis on education. The initiative aims to introduce formal quizzing into schools, with plans to establish chapters in all 14 districts of Kerala. These chapters, led by district collectors, focus on engaging students from grade five and above, promoting intellectual development and providing a structured platform for quizzing enthusiasts.
Overall, IQA Asia plays a pivotal role in fostering a culture of knowledge and intellectual engagement across the continent, aiming to make quizzing a recognized mind sport and a valuable educational tool.
