Job description

  • The Public Health Specialist will contribute a public health perspective to the implementation of a community-based pre- and post-intervention study evaluating Ayurvedic Diet Therapy (ADT) and Ayurvedic Behavioural Lifestyle Intervention (ABLI) for the prevention of diabetes among prediabetic individuals in Oachira Block, Kollam District, Kerala.

  • The position involves coordination of screening activities, awareness generation, data analysis, training programs, and monitoring of public health outcomes. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Work as part of the project team in organizing and conducting public awareness and screening camps. 

  • Assist the Project Manager and be responsible for training programs and awareness camps. 

  • Coordinate HbA1c testing for eligible individuals at screening camps.

  • Facilitate recruitment and follow-up of 1000 prediabetic participants in the pre- and post-study. 

  • Educating the participants and public regarding the project. 

  • Help in analysis of screening data and its interpretation from a public health perspective. 

  • Work with the Data Entry Operator in data collection using web-based application tools, managing the study data, and maintaining confidentiality and data security. • Monitor baseline, mid-point and endpoint assessments. 

  • Assess compliance with diet and lifestyle modifications through structured tools. 

  • Track project deliverables as per quarterly action plan.

  • Assist in preparation of interim and final reports. Expected Competencies 

  • Ability to adapt and work with multidisciplinary teams 

  • Strong understanding of epidemiology and community-based research

  • Experience in screening programs and public health interventions 

  • Knowledge of data analysis and interpretation

  • Good communication and training skills 

  • Field coordination and monitoring capability
