Advance Your Career in Hepatology at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi

Step into the forefront of liver medicine with the DM Hepatology Programme at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi-one of India’s most advanced centres for the diagnosis, management, and research of complex liver diseases.

Designed for ambitious physicians who aspire to become leaders in hepatology, this programme offers unmatched exposure within a high-volume tertiary referral hospital that manages some of the most challenging liver conditions in the region. Trainees gain hands-on experience in managing critically ill patients with acute liver failure, acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF), hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), and a wide spectrum of complex rare liver diseases.

A defining strength of the programme is its one-of-a-kind hepatologist-driven 14-bed Liver ICU, where fellows work closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver cutting-edge care for patients with advanced liver disease. This intensive exposure builds expertise in complex decision-making, critical care hepatology, and advanced therapeutics.

The programme is closely integrated with a highly active liver transplant unit that has successfully performed more than 1,500 liver transplants, providing trainees with invaluable exposure to transplant hepatology-from pre-transplant evaluation to post-transplant management.

Academics and research are central pillars of the programme. Fellows are mentored by internationally trained faculty with experience from premier institutions including Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGI Chandigarh), University Health Network -Toronto Transplant Centre, and Christian Medical College Vellore. Trainees actively participate in a strong research ecosystem, with opportunities to contribute to international collaborative studies, publish impactful work, and present findings at major global hepatology conferences. The institute also houses a state-of-the-art endoscopy unit and Interventional radiology unit, ensuring comprehensive training in advanced hepatology procedures.

If you seek rigorous clinical training, world-class mentorship, and the opportunity to shape the future of hepatology, the DM Hepatology Programme at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences is where your journey begins.
