Abstract : Vrkṣāyurveda dates back to the thirteenth-century AD when it was originally compiled by śārṅgadharā, a courtier of king Hammīrā, who ruled śakambarideśā, present Bundlekand. Thus, the text of reference that exists today belongs to the śārṅgadhara paddhati (pattern of śārṅgadharā) that contains 16 chapters related to plant science. A summary of the chapters to be described in detail for the current article is mentioned along with their significance in the methodology section. With the advent of more artificial approaches to modern farming which in turn has adverse effects on human health, there is an escalating demand to revive traditional systems of agriculture. The purpose of this study is to compare traditional agricultural techniques concerning Vrkṣāyurveda and modern methods to critically analyze them thereby checking their current application to promote sustainability. This comparison of various methodologies is aimed at shifting the synthetic equilibrium toward traditional organic means. A study of the literature shows various experiments launched by the Indian Council for Agricultural Research related to various aspects of agriculture in Vrkṣāyurveda such as cropping systems, rainwater management, soil and water conservation, pest and disease management, and so on. The detailed report on the total number of experiments along with the validity of their results is also published.
