Abstract : The paper focuses mainly on the development of a real-time soil moisture system that analyzes and provides early warnings by monitoring the moisture level in the soil. The proposed system monitors the soil moisture levels continuously. When the given threshold values of soil moisture are reached, the system is activated creating an alert message to the local disaster management system. A cost-effective hardware setup is being designed to validate the proposed methodology, and the results are presented.
