Abstract : In the current work, CuMoO4 nanosheets (CuMoO4 NSs) were synthesized by using the co-pre-cursor approach, and then structural, morphological, optical, and electrochemical properties of the synthe-sized CuMoO4 NSs were examined employing Fourier transform-infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray dif-fraction (XRD), UV–Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV–DRS), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA),and field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM). The XRD result depicted that the synthesizedCuMoO4 NSs have an orthorhombic phase, and the average crystallite size of CuMoO4 NSs is about19.57 nm. FESEM images confirmed the nanosheet-like structure of the samples. The CuMoO4 exhibitedcharacteristic metal oxide bond vibrations as determined by FTIR spectroscopy. As a consequence, a moreselective spectral region was therefore identified from UV–Visible spectra, and the band gap value was foundto be 1.73 eV. For electrochemical performances, the prepared electrode material shows a high energy densityof 85.12 Wh kg–1 and the power density of 449 W kg–1, a capacity retention of 88% after 5000 cycles of chargeand discharge, and a specific capacitance of 681 F g–1 at 0.5 A for galvanostatic charge–discharge analysis
