Abstract : Social media is now a tool to access news and information. However, misinformation in social media is getting more attention from users and is being spread widely among them in a short period. Researchers have observed that rumors spread like epidemics in different social media applications. Hence, mathematical models that were widely used for describing the growth of epidemics were used to define rumor spreading. This work is focused on analyzing the epidemiological spread of rumors in a psychological aspect. The new model will show evidence of the sentiment that is spread along with rumors. Users share information along with their opinion on the social media platform. Understanding the psychological behavior of users helps to forecast the flow of rumors. It will also help to study the impact of such rumors in politics and the economy. Hence, a new sentiment-based rumor model has been developed to study and understand the nature of rumor spreading across the networks.
