Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham proactively advances SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by equipping local entrepreneurs with comprehensive support to launch financially and socially sustainable ventures. Through its Center for Entrepreneurship, the university delivers rigorous coursework and hands-on projects that teach business model design, impact assessment, and scaling strategies, ensuring that innovators from under-resourced communities gain the skills to create viable enterprises. The Mentoring Schemes Following Admission pairs new founders—especially women and disadvantaged students—with seasoned alumni and industry experts for ongoing guidance in ideation, prototyping, and investor preparedness. At the annual ARISE 2024 Startup Festival, participants engage in pitch competitions, design-thinking workshops, and sustainability panels, securing seed grants and incubation offers that propel early-stage social businesses. Amrita’s campuses in Coimbatore, Bangalore, and Kollam provide open access to advanced facilities—including 3D printers, CNC labs, biotech equipment, and HPC clusters—enabling entrepreneurs to prototype and validate innovative solutions at no cost. Finally, the Sustainability Education @ AMRITA certificate programme fosters expertise in circular economy design, ethical leadership, and impact measurement, delivered through international webinars and local field immersions.
