| At New Delhi on December 8, 2005 : The President of India, Bharat Ratna Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam launched the Indo-US Inter-University Collaborative Initiative in Higher Education at Rashtrapathy Bhavan, New Delhi at 1:00 PM. In a landmark agreement, that was inked during the visit of the Prime Minister to Washington DC on July 20th, Gurupurnima day, five leading American Universities joined Indian institutions led by AMRITA Vishwa Vidyapeetham, ISRO, and Department of Science and Technology to enhance science and engineering education in India over Edusat.
