AMMACHI Labs (Amrita Multi Modal Applications and Human Computer Interaction) is a multidisciplinary research center at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham. We create innovative educational tools and skill development solutions to help uplift entire communities. In our commitment to rural villages of India – the very communities that stand to benefit the most from skill development – we are as excited about our continuing development of community outreach solutions as we are about our focused R&D for CHI, robotics and automation, haptic technologies and applied robotics.

Our vision is to strengthen the economic fiber and contribute to the social stability of the nation by empowering India’s masses in a sustainable, costeffective and scalable way by providing innovative technological solutions and resources for physical, vocational and social skill development.

Our Mission & Focus

AMMACHI Labs focuses on advancing technology-driven solutions across multiple domains to empower individuals and communities. Our work spans Learning Technologies for Skill Development, where we develop immersive haptics, XR, simulations, and CHI-based learning experiences to enhance vocational education at scale. Through Skill Intelligence, we capture and analyze cognitive and psychomotor skill data using emerging technologies and AI/ML models to provide precise feedback and improve learner performance. In Rural Technologies, we design inclusive, sustainable innovations that strengthen rural livelihoods and community resilience. Our Skills for Schools initiative equips students with 21st-century competencies through robotics, STEM education, digital skills, computational thinking, and maker-based learning. In Social Robotics, we create socially intelligent robotic systems that support behavior change, serious games, and skill development. We also apply AI & Robotics for agriculture and disaster response, developing tools such as precision-farming systems, agricultural robotics, drones for disaster relief, and technologies to mitigate human–animal conflict. Together, these focus areas reflect AMMACHI Labs’ commitment to leveraging advanced technologies for social good, sustainable development, and human empowerment.
