The School of Computing, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Nagercoil Campus, inaugurated the AmFOSS Club on 18 July 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Amriteshwari Hall. The event marked the beginning of a vibrant platform dedicated to promoting free and open-source software among students.
Dr. Vipin Pavithran, Professor at the Amrita Center for Cyber Security and founder of amFOSS.in, delivered an inspiring inaugural address. His thought-provoking talk highlighted the importance of open-source technologies, collaborative development, and continuous skill enhancement. He emphasized how active participation in open-source communities and competitive platforms like ICPC can significantly boost students’ technical expertise and career opportunities.
The session also included the introduction of the club coordinator and office bearers, presided over by Dr. T. Kannan, Principal. Mrs. T. Vickneswari, Assistant Professor, AID, was introduced as the coordinator of the AmFOSS Club.
The AmFOSS Club of Amrita School of Computing, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Nagercoil, successfully organized a Student-Led Technical Talk Competition on “Artificial Intelligence in Modern Computing” on 25.12.2025. The event aimed to encourage students to explore emerging trends in AI, enhance their technical presentation skills, and promote knowledge-sharing within the student community.
The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, who presented innovative ideas and insights related to artificial intelligence and its applications in modern computing. The event served as a platform for budding technologists to showcase their understanding, creativity, and communication skills. The event was successfully conducted under the guidance of the Principal and Chairperson and organized by Mrs. T. Vickneswari, Assistant Professor, AID. The program was supported by dedicated student coordinators.
