Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham is proud to unveil its strategic research plan for the next three years, crafted through a collaborative and inclusive process known as the “Amrita Research & Innovation Symposium for Excellence (ARISE)” 2024. This visionary document outlines six key focus areas to position Amrita as a global leader in research for societal benefit. Guided by our core principles of Education for Life, CompassionDriven Research, and Global Impact, this strategy leverages our strengths in values-based education and technological innovation to address humanity’s critical challenges. This document and the strategies listed reflect our Chancellor’s vision of fostering a world free from conflict, hunger, and disparities.

The Amrita Research & Innovation Symposium for Excellence (ARISE) 2024 provided the platform for codesigning the research strategy through participatory engagement. This unique multi-scale, multiphase program facilitated university-level multidisciplinary engagement, involving over 500 faculty members across eight campuses. Subsequently, campus-level ARISE events were organized to integrate the strengths and aspirations of faculty and researchers from multiple campuses. This inclusive framework transcended hierarchical boundaries, inviting seasoned faculty and budding scholars to contribute and democratize decision-making. Through active engagement, researchers influence priorities, discuss emerging fields, foster interdisciplinary cooperation, and address societal challenges, laying a foundation for impactful research aligned with global trends and societal needs and shaping the university’s research landscape.

The ARISE logo embodies the organization’s profound philosophy. Each element within the logo carries a symbolic meaning: The two hands positioned at the logo’s base represent compassion, signifying ARISE’s nurturing and supportive approach. The petals encircling the central design symbolize various interdisciplinary domains, recognizing that complex challenges require insights from diverse disciplines. At the core lies a heart, representing love, empathy, and genuine concern. ARISE’s solutions are deeply rooted in compassion and driven by a heartfelt desire to make a positive impact. The radiant dots extending outward from the heart symbolize light, as ARISE aims to illuminate the world with innovative and transformative solutions. In summary, the ARISE logo visually communicates a powerful message: Through compassion, interdisciplinary collaboration, love, and enlightenment, ARISE strives to create a brighter, more harmonious world.
