Cyber Awareness Month (CAM)

Cyber Awareness Month (CAM) is a dynamic initiative focused on promoting digital hygiene, responsible online behavior, and awareness of emerging Cybersecurity threats. Conducted in collaboration with several student-led organizations—including the WiCyS Amrita Student Chapter, Blockchain Research Interest Group (B-RIG), CybeReach, and the Hyperledger India Chapter Student Society—CAM offers a diverse range of events aimed at engaging and educating the campus community.

The highlight of the event is TechProbe which is a Cybersecurity Quiz Challenge. Designed as a gamified learning experience, TechProbe aims to raise awareness of essential Cybersecurity concepts in a fun and accessible format. Hosted entirely on Instagram, the event serves as an innovative platform for participants to engage with Cybersecurity content in a creative, interactive way.

What makes TechProbe unique is its integration of Cybersecurity themes with popular cultural observances, making the content more relatable and engaging. To maintain enthusiasm and participation throughout the event, winners are announced daily on Instagram. A dynamic point system rewards top performers with exceptional accuracy. This approach fosters a sense of healthy competition and builds a vibrant online community around the initiative.

As part of the Cybersecurity Awareness Month (CAM) initiative, the WiCyS Amrita Student Chapter also organized an interactive Escape Room event titled “Unsolved”. Designed to raise awareness about Cybersecurity in a fun and engaging way, the event challenged participants to solve puzzles centered around themes such as cyber safety, cryptography, and logical reasoning—all within a time limit. Participants worked in teams to solve the case and identify the “culprit,” testing their problem-solving and collaboration skills under pressure. The event drew participation from students across various departments, as well as schoolchildren and army personnel, creating a dynamic and inclusive learning environment.

Cyber Movie Evening (CME)

The Cyber Movie Evening is an innovative event designed to explore the intersection of technology, human behavior, and Cybersecurity through the lens of cinema. The evening features the screening of a thought-provoking film centered around themes such as artificial intelligence, surveillance, and the psychological effects of digital life. The storyline provides a compelling backdrop to reflect on the increasingly complex relationship between humans and technology in the digital age.

Following the screening, participants engage in a guided open discussion, where students and faculty share insights and interpretations of the film’s underlying messages. The event attracts attendees from various disciplines, encouraging interdisciplinary dialogue and fostering a sense of community among those interested in the human dimensions of Cybersecurity. The informal and reflective setting made the discussion accessible and relatable, allowing participants to connect theoretical Cybersecurity concerns with real-world emotional and ethical questions.

Overall, the Cyber Movie Evening is an impactful initiative. It demonstrates the power of storytelling in raising awareness about digital issues and provides a unique platform for participants to think critically about the technological world they inhabit.
