Dr. Shankar Venugopal 

Dr. Shankar Venugopal is Vice President at Mahindra & Mahindra, where he leads the Technology Innovation, Intellectual Property, Knowledge Management, and Mahindra Technical Academy verticals. He is at the forefront of Mahindra’s efforts in sustainable technology, fostering innovation and building future-ready capabilities in the mobility sector. As Dean of the Mahindra Technical Academy, he plays a crucial role in re-skilling and nurturing engineering talent for the evolving needs of the automotive industry. 

With over two decades of experience in R&D and technology leadership, Dr. Venugopal has held prominent roles in several global organizations. Prior to Mahindra, he served as Director – Technology Planning at Cummins India, Innovation Leader at Honeywell, and Principal Scientist at Dow. He spent over eight years at GE India Technology Centre, where he contributed to the development and global rollout of LED phosphor technology, earning 10 US patents. He began his career as a Scientist at ISRO, contributing to satellite programs through innovations in silicon photo sensors. 

Dr. Venugopal was also Chairman of the CII TNTDPC CTO Forum (2017–2024), where he facilitates collaboration among India’s technology leaders and supports government-industry dialogue on emerging technologies.  

His career is a testament to the strategic blending of scientific depth, innovation management, and a commitment to sustainable technological advancement.
