Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham is a multi-campus, multi-disciplinary research academia that is accredited ‘A++’ by NAAC and is ranked as one of the best research institutions in India. Founded by the world-renowned humanitarian, Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, the multi-campus University was established to provide rigorous academic instruction in an ambience rooted from Indian cultural heritage. Amrita has 15 schools spread across six campuses in three states of India – Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, with the headquarters at Ettimadai, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. We offer 150+ degree programs, in a variety of disciplines at the UG, PG, and Doctoral levels. Amrita has approximately 18,000 students and 1,750 faculty members, 600 of which are PhD/DM holders. The University also has a staff to student ratio of 1:10, one of the best in the country, especially among private universities. Amrita has established international collaborative initiatives with over 75 world-leading institutions in the U.S., Europe, Australia and Japan, with extensive faculty and student exchanges and cross-continental research projects. Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, also known as Amrita Hospital, is a part of the Health Sciences Campus. Since 1998, it has revolutionised healthcare services in India by providing compassionate care to the public using cutting-edge techniques at affordable prices. The internationally recognised body of scientists and physicians at Amrita Hospital has won numerous awards for innovation, expertise and excellence in their delivery of evidence-based medicine. Cutting-edge techniques include reconstruction of an infant’s breastbone using 3D printing – the first of its kind in India – and the first successful upper-arm double hand transplant in Asia. The Amrita hospital also has a long track record in carrying out liver, heart, kidney and corneal transplants. Amrita Hospital is the only medical facility in India with a Centre for Nanosciences and Molecular Medicine, bringing together highly skilled clinicians and scientists to develop novel methods of diagnosis, drug delivery, disease management and preventive care. Over the past 15 years, faculty members of Amrita have published more than 12,000 research articles in peer-reviewed journals attracting 65,000 citations, filed more than 150 patents and written 300+ scholarly books. They have secured research grants of more than US$100m (£73m) from governmental and private funding agencies such as the World Bank, Unesco and the Gates Foundation.
