Mr Anand R Nair currently serves as Assistant Professor at TIFAC-CORE in Cybersecurity, Coimbatore, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, India. (since Nov 2022)
He is currently pursuing doctoral research as a part-time scholar at the Dept of CSE, Amrita School of Computing, Coimbatore under the supervision of Dr Gowtham R. His area of research includes systems security, malware analysis and knowledge representations. (Jan 2020 onwards)
Anand had qualified UGC NTA NET in Computer Science and Applications in June 2019. He had completed M Tech in Computer Science specializing in Cybersecurity from APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University, Trivandrum in 2017. He had graduated his B Tech in Computer Science and Engineering from Amrita School of Engineering, Amritapuri, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, India in 2012.
While at the department of TIFAC-CORE in Cybersecurity, he has been working on funded research projects such as software watermarking, Android security, phishing detection and APT analysis. He is experienced in handling courses such as Operating Systems, Computer Networks, Data Structures and Algorithms, Programming Languages, Soft Computing, Advanced Protocol Engineering and Security, as well as Web Application Security. The academic projects mentored by him for M Tech and B Tech students include a range of topics such as malware detection using Artificial Intelligence, Android security, Darknet and Tor network traffic detection, Enhanced Yara with fuzzy logic-based string matching for static malware detection, and secure exfiltration-resilient Android application for maintaining privacy and integrity of digital media on secondary storage. He is the Faculty Advisor and coordinates the club at the department for Capture the Flag (CTF) contests. He also actively involves in mentoring students for competitive programming contests such as ACM ICPC as well as hackathons.
Mr Nair has over 7 years of industrial experience working with state public sector undertakings (PSUs), research centres and private software development firms.
Anand is a member of Internet governance groups such as ICANN and ISOC since September 2021. He is a former Indian Fellow for India School of Internet Governance (inSIG 2021).
