A strategic meeting was held in Kolar District on October 8, 2025, bringing together key government departments and stakeholders to develop a coordinated, multi-sectoral approach to addressing gender-based violence (GBV).
The meeting was convened under the guidance of Dr. Praveen P. Bagewadi, IAS, Chief Executive Officer, Zilla Panchayat, Kolar, and included the participation of Dr. Bhavani Rao, UNESCO Chair & Dean of Amrita School of Social and Behavioural Sciences (SSBS), along with members of the AMMACHI Labs team. Representatives from the Department of Women and Child Development, National Rural Livelihood Mission (Day NRLM), the Health Department, and other allied agencies also joined the discussions.
The organizers expressed their gratitude to Ms. Uma Mahadevan, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary and Development Commissioner, Government of Karnataka, whose facilitation enabled meaningful engagement with district-level leadership and stakeholders. Her ongoing commitment to inclusive development and women’s empowerment continues to inspire collaborative initiatives like this.
This initiative envisions a comprehensive, multi-dimensional framework to prevent and respond to GBV, fostering community resilience and promoting gender equity through coordinated action across sectors.
