Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Mysuru Campus, in association with GLOBALFTI, organised a One-Day Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Programme titled ‘Implication of AI & Challenges of Educators’ on 7th January 2026 at its Mysuru campus. The programme was designed for PU and K–12 Principals and Vice-Principals, with the objective of addressing emerging educational paradigms in the age of Artificial Intelligence.
The programme was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Prof. Sangeeth Varghese, President, International Foundation for Sustainable Peace and Development (IFSPD), Europe. In his keynote address, he highlighted that the coming decades would be characterised by a VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous) global environment, marked by the phenomenon of jobless economic growth. Tracing the historical relationship between education and employment, he noted that while learning was once integrated with work, the Industrial Revolution led to their separation. In the present digital era, he observed, conventional employment models are increasingly being replaced by gig work, startups and micro-enterprises. Emphasising the role of educators, he stressed the need to nurture adaptability, entrepreneurial thinking, collaboration and Sustainable Development Goal (SDG)–based learning among students.
Dr. Sreedhar Saraswathy, Chairman, International Institute of Medical Science & Technology Council (IIMSTC), delivered a thought-provoking session from an interdisciplinary perspective, integrating neuroscience with education. He spoke about the role of mirror neurons in empathy, imitation and social learning and cautioned against the growing influence of what he termed ‘Intellectual Terrorism,’ which subtly shapes and manipulates young minds. He also explained the functions of various lobes of the human brain and their influence on personality, emotions and cognition, underscoring that educators shape learners not only through instruction but also through personal example.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Shekar Babu, Associate Dean, Amrita Mysuru, emphasised that the responsible integration of Artificial Intelligence in education is vital for achieving academic excellence and improving teaching–learning outcomes. He advocated for compassion-driven research and highlighted the importance of blending advanced technological practices with strong ethical and philosophical foundations. He also stressed collaboration as a key driver to ensure inclusive and equitable educational progress.
Mr. Narayanan Nambiar, Founder, GLOBALFTI; Prof. GRavindranath, Principal, Mysuru Campus; Dr. Rekha Bhat, Academic Coordinator, along with Section Heads, Chairpersons, Vice-Chairs and faculty members were present on the occasion.
