February 23, 2026 - 2:10

On 16 February 2026, a delegation of 11 women school leaders from Victoria, Australia, visited the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS), Kochi, as part of the Women Leading: In-country Engagement India immersion programme. The visit marked an important step in fostering global dialogue and collaboration on advancing women’s leadership and empowerment.

Representing the Center for Women’s Empowerment and Gender Equality (CWEGE) at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Dr. Drishti Marwaha presented the university’s ongoing initiatives aimed at strengthening women’s economic agency. She highlighted how Amrita’s integrated approach—through education, vocational training, and community outreach—is creating sustainable pathways for women’s empowerment.

A key takeaway from the session was the importance of building structured mentorship and sponsorship ecosystems to support women’s leadership journeys. The discussion also emphasized the vital role of engaging men as allies in advancing gender equality, reinforcing that inclusive progress requires collective participation.

The visit created a meaningful platform for dialogue, shared learning, and international exchange. Participants engaged in thoughtful discussions on best practices, challenges, and opportunities in nurturing the next generation of women leaders across educational institutions.
