Screening for Autism

Screening for Autism

The research project intends to bridge the gap that exists in specialized teacher training programs to support neurodiverse students, including those with autism.

The researchinvestigatesthe impact of targeted training on teachers’ understanding of autism and their efficacy in screening and supporting autistic students within mainstream educational environments. The expected benefits of this specialized training include assisting with timely autism diagnosis and facilitating access to special education resources. The implications extend to engendering a more inclusive learning environment, raising broader societal awareness about autism, and potentially enhancing the quality of life for autistic individuals and their families.

The proposed research employs a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys with qualitative interviews, to investigate the impact of specialized teacher training on autism awareness and support mechanisms in mainstream Indian schools.
