Abstract : The number of loT devices in the market are increasing day by day. Most of these devices operate with the help of Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi is a wireless technology that uses radio waves from the EM spectrum to provide high speed internet. [1] Wireless LAN chips inside these device helps in peer to peer communication. Since most of the loT devices are battery operated, engineers are spending all their effort in reducing the power consumption of these WLAN chips. [2] The current process of power estimation through analyser requires tool expertise and is carried out by particular experts only. Through this work we plan to automate it so as to reduce the time/effort and infrastructure needed. The proposed work aims to create a power consumption model for WLAN chips that would estimate the average current consumed by the chip over a period of time. This model includes several scenarios of frame transmissions and average power consumed by the Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) chip for a particular scenario is calculated. The model is developed as GUI to be user-friendly.
