Abstract : Abstract Time and authenticity are important parameters in any remote patient monitoring system. It is imperative that accurate data be received and quick appropriate decision be made to ensure timely intervention. In this chapter, algorithms for secure key management and exchange are presented where the focus is on independent key generation for authentication. The proposed framework enables the communicating entities to establish the shared key without the need to physically transmit them over a wireless network that is vulnerable. The algorithms proposed in the framework are lightweight that does not require heavy memory and computation requirements in the communicating entities.
