Abstract : This research paper explores the challenges and opportunities for improving livelihoods (SDG8) through sustainable agriculture (SDG2) and clean energy (SDG7) in Sadivayal Village, Tamil Nadu, India. Utilizing Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) and Human-Centered Design (HCD) methodologies, the study identifies critical issues such as unpredictable rainfall, inadequate water management, and reliance on water-intensive crops such as rice varieties, maize, and other grains. By analysing rainfall data from 2018 to 2022 highlights the urgent need for innovative water storage and alternative technical solutions. The study is proposing a solarpowered irrigation system designed to optimize water usage and ensure sustainable agricultural practices. The findings reveal that the lack of effective water management systems limits agricultural productivity and water security despite adequate rainfall. By implementing the proposed solutions, the study demonstrates the potential to significantly enhance agricultural productivity (SDG2) and ensure long-term water security, thereby directly contributing to improved rural livelihoods (SDG 8). Integrating local knowledge with scientific research has resulted in comprehensive, community-oriented solutions for sustainable agriculture with the help of clean energy (SDG7). This research provides a replicable model for other rural areas facing similar challenges, demonstrating the potential of integrated approaches to achieve long-term water security, agricultural sustainability, and economic resilience in the face of climate variability.
