Integrative Oncology

Vision

Incidence of cancer is on the rise globally and Integrative Oncology is emerging as a new discipline to fill gaps in the cancer care continuum. The vision of this TAG is to integrate evidence based Ayurvedic interventions in cancer care to address unmet needs of cancer patients.

Mission

• To develop collaborations between Amrita School of Ayurveda and Oncology Departments in India and abroad.
• To conduct research studies to generate evidence of safety and efficacy of Ayurvedic interventions in cancer care.
• To develop Ayurvedic products and protocols for integration into cancer care.

Proposed initiative

• Survey and documentation of outcomes of Ayurvedic interventions in cancer at point of care.
• Study on Ayurvedic immunomodulation to augment effect of radiation therapy in management of head and neck tumours.
• Studies on Ayurvedic interventions as adjuvant to chemotherapy and radiation in cancer care.
• Screening of Ayurvedic herbs and formulations for anti-cancer activity.
