Ramesh, (Dean of International Programs and Director of Amrita Center for Wireless Networks and Applications at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham), Amrita joined the United Nations and other international organizations as the first group of 58 signatories of the Kyoto 2020 Commitment for Global Promotion of Understanding and Reducing Landslide Disaster Risk (KLC2020), signed at UNESCO Headquarters at Paris on September 18, 2019.
Honorable Governor of Jharkhand, Smt. Draupadi Murmu, visited Amrita Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) special projects hub center in Jonha, Ranchi, Jharkhand on September 14, 2019. She took a keen interest in visiting Amrita’s AMMACHI Labs Skill Development Center when she heard about it during her visit to Women Empowerment event organized by the Sevabharathi campus.
The Centre for Women’s Empowerment and Gender Equality (CWEGE), Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri campus, organized a one-day workshop ”The Dissemination of Compendium on the Juvenile Justice rules for the Stakeholders of Child Protection and Human Trafficking & Trauma Care” in collaboration with PRERANA-Mumbai and IJM, on September 4, 2019.
An international symposium “Integrated Treatment Protocol for Management of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy” was held at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences on August 31, 2019.
Dr. R. Suresh Kumar, Clinical Professor, Department of Neurology, School of Medicine, Amrita Health Sciences, Kochi, delivered an invited lecture on “Newer Diagnostic Criteria and Classification in Multiple Sclerosis”, in the prestigious European Charcot Foundation Symposium which was held in association with the National Subsection Conference ICTRIMS 2019, under the aegis of Indian Academy of Neurology, at Kolkata, from August 16 -18, 2019.
The annual 2019 Sulitest Report from was released during review of the 2030 Agenda through the High-level Political Forum (HLPF) at United Nations on July 11, 2019. Amrita School of Business was the only institution from India featured in this report. Dr. Raghu Raman, Chairman, Amrita School of Business, Coimbatore, represented Amrita at this annual event at the United Nations.
Dr. Linda Troeberg, Senior lecturer at Norwich Medical School based at the University of East Anglia, United Kingdom was an invited speaker at the School of Biotechnology, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri campus, on August 6, 2019.
Becton, Dickinson and Company (BD), in collaboration with Amrita Hospital, launched the Amrita-BD Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Clinical Flow Cytometry, a critical technique that has many clinical applications. The state-of-the-art CoE that was launched in Kochi will provide training to researchers and clinicians to enhance their expertise in flow cytometry and focus on frontier areas in biological sciences.
The Center for Women’s Empowerment & Gender Equality in collaboration with the Amrita Center for Research and Development (ACRD), recently organized an international workshop for researchers on “Defining and Refining – Research Methodology Workshop on First Steps in Research” from August 2 – 4, 2019.
The students from the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore campus, along with Professor Dr. Vidhya Balasubramanian, won “Best Paper Runner-up Award” for their paper titled “A Dynamic Weighted Trilateration Algorithm for Indoor Localization using Dual-band WiFi” at the 17th International Symposium on Web & Wireless Geographical Information Systems, held at Kyoto, Japan, from May 16-17, 2019.
