The Amrita School of Education provides holistic, value-based and interdisciplinary education; the aim is to train teachers who will empower future generations to live in local and global communities

The School is part of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, a university accredited by NAAC with the highest grade of A. The university was started by Sri Mata Amritanandaymayi Devi, renowned humanitarian, who continues to serve as its Chancellor and inspiration.

The mission of Amrita University is "to provide value-based education and mould the character of the younger generation through a system of wholesome learning, so that their earnest endeavor to achieve progress and prosperity in life is matched by an ardent desire to extend selfless service to the society, one complementing the other."

This mission is reflected in all aspects of the Amrita School of Education, from its objectives to its academics, from resources and support to extra-curricular activities. The School of Education is on a beautiful and serene five-acre campus in Mysore. It aims to provide students with a holistic integration of current technology, practical experience and spiritual values, in service to future generations.

Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.)

Amrita School of Education The School offers a 10-month B.Ed. program to those who already have bachelors degrees such as BA, BCom or BSc, enabling them to teach in secondary schools in the nation. 85% - 90% of graduating students have taken up teaching in various parts of India and abroad, while others have chosen to pursue postgraduate studies.

Students are taught the core subjects of Computer Education, Environmental Education, Evaluation of Learning and Guidance and Counseling in addition to more traditional teacher-training areas such as Educational Psychology, Content cum Methodology and Practice-Teaching. In addition to academics, there are ample opportunities for hands-on cultural, spiritual, artistic and community-service activities. An integral part of the program is a three-day village visit wherein students work with villagers on social and community issues.
