Kochi: With the objective of building a drug-free New India, the ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan’ campaign was organised at the Health Sciences Campus of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham under the aegis of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, and the My Bharat initiative.
The programme, held at the Amriteswari Hall, Amrita Hospital, was inaugurated by Kochi City Police Commissioner Kaliraj Mahesh Kumar IPS, who ceremonially lit the lamp. Swamini Karunamrita Prana of Mata Amritanandamayi Math commenced the programme with prayers.
Dr. Ramakrishnan U. K., Professor, Department of Forensic Medicine, Amrita Hospital, delivered the welcome address. A large number of students and teachers from the six schools functioning under the Health Sciences Campus in Kochi participated in the campaign. Various cultural programmes presented by the students added to the significance of the event. As part of the campaign, an interactive discussion was also held, providing an opportunity for young people to share their views on building a drug-free society. As a pledge to build a drug-free India, participants signed an anti-drug signature wall during the programme.
Dr. K. P. Girish Kumar, Principal, Amrita School of Medicine, and Dr. Rehna and Dr. Jaggu, Administrators at Amrita Hospital, coordinated the programme. Dr. Prasad V. G., Amrita School of Medicine, proposed the vote of thanks.
This is the second time that the ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva’ campaign has been organised at Amrita.
