Bio

Dr. Manishika Rawat an academician and researcher in the field of wireless communications and next generation networks. She completed her PhD in 2022 from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, where her doctoral research focused on underwater acoustic communications, addressing key challenges related to channel characterization and performance analysis. Following her PhD, she pursued postdoctoral research at the University of Padova, Italy, where she worked on a research project centered on Beam management for 5G New Radio (NR), with applications in smart and intelligent communication systems. Additionally, she has worked on multiple projects at IIT Delhi and IIT Roorkee that focused on 6G Non-Terrestrial networks, UAV-based cellular networks, and Integrated Sensing and Communications (ISAC). Her research interests range from energy sustainable solutions in 5G/6G architectures to underwater acoustic communication and emerging communication paradigms. She has published papers in peer reviewed journals and conferences. She has over 5 years of teaching experience at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, teaching core subjects such as Wireless Communication, Digital Communication, Signals and Systems, and MATLAB-based simulation laboratories. She is actively involved in mentoring students in project-based learning and research-oriented activities.

Research Experience:

  • Project Fellow, Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (Feb 2024- Aug 2024)
    • Worked on a project that aimed to advance the field of integrated sensing and communications (ISAC) by developing and proposing 3GPP standardization frameworks with the key objectives to enhance spectral efficiency, improve sensing coverage, and ensure seamless integration of sensing and communication functionalities for applications like smart cities, autonomous vehicles, and indoor positioning systems.
  • Postdoctoral Researcher, University of Padova, Italy (June 2022- Oct 2023)
    • Worked on a project in that focuses on Beam Management for 5G New Radio (NR)/RAN reduced capability (RedCap) devices in compliance with the 3GPP guidelines for millimeter wave communications with the objective of energy sustainability for specific scenarios like Indoor Factory and Smart agriculture.
  • Early Doc Fellow, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, India (Jan 2022- Apr 2022)
    • This work focused on 6G research, specifically Non-Terrestrial networks, wherein I investigated the optimal sector beamwidth for a cell served by an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) acting as a base station (BS) using millimeter wave communications and provided guidelines towards the optimal beamforming configurations for users in rural areas.
  • Project Scientist, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, India (July 2021- Dec 2021)
    •  Worked on a project titled “Build end-to-end 5G test bed”, where we proposed a solution to overcome the digital divide while sustaining efficient resource allocation in non-terrestrial networks (NTN) in 6G mobile communications and next-generation wireless communications
