Bio

Dr. Sadia Khan is a clinical microbiologist currently serving as Professor and Head, Department of Microbiology, Amrita School of Medicine, Faridabad. With over a decade of experience spanning clinical diagnostics, academic leadership, infection prevention, and antimicrobial stewardship, she has expertise in strengthening healthcare systems and building capacity in infectious diseases.

A Gold Medalist from JIPMER, she completed her MD in Microbiology with top honours. She further broadened her global health perspective through the Diploma in Tropical Medicine & Hygiene from the Royal College of Physicians, London, followed by certification in infection control (CICP).

Before joining Amrita Faridabad, Dr. Sadia served as Assistant and Associate Professor at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi, where she played a pivotal role in developing structured training programs in Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) and Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMSP). She was a contributing member of the expert group that drafted Kerala’s State Antibiotic Policy, one of India’s most forward-thinking state-level strategies against antimicrobial resistance.

Dr. Sadia has a strong footprint in global health and humanitarian medicine. She currently serves as a moderator for the MSF Global Health & Humanitarian Medicine Course (South Asia Cohort 2024–25).

A prolific academic, she has authored more than 30 publications in reputed national and international peer-reviewed journals. She has also been part of several multicentric national research projects, particularly in infectious diseases, diagnostic stewardship, and healthcare-associated infections. Her professional interests include antimicrobial resistance, HAI surveillance, diagnostic innovation, public health microbiology, and training pedagogy. As an educator, she is known for designing dynamic, interactive learning models that bridge clinical practice, laboratory science, and public health
