Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham celebrated its 28th Convocation at the Amritapuri campus, marking a milestone in the academic journey of 2,452 graduates. The ceremony also recognized 60 doctoral graduates, including 23 scholars from the prestigious “E for Life” (Education for Life) Ph.D. scholarship program.
The ceremony commenced with the welcome address by Dr. Bipin Nair, Dean of the Amrita School for Life Sciences, followed by the benedictory address of Swami Poornamritananda Puri, General Secretary of the Mata Amritanandamayi Math. Dr. Chandrabhas Narayana, Director of the Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology, graced the occasion as a distinguished guest.
Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Sridhar Vembu, founder of Zoho Corporation, encouraged students to master technology and cultivate keen observational skills that empower them to answer all questions of life. In a video message, Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, Chancellor of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, highlighted the importance of applying acquired knowledge in real life, emphasizing that love, compassion, and social commitment will guide the world toward peace.
Other notable speakers included Dr. Venkat Rangan, Vice Chancellor of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham; Dr. P. Ajith Kumar, Registrar; Dr. Manisha V. Ramesh, Provost; Dr. Balakrishnan Shankar, Dean of the School of Engineering; and Dr. Krishnasree Achuthan, Dean of PG Programs.
Graduates from diverse streams, including Engineering, Biotechnology, Arts and Commerce, Physical Sciences, Business, and Ayurveda, received their degrees. Top performers were awarded medals for their exceptional academic achievements. Students from the Ahead Online program were also conferred degrees during the event. In addition to academic achievements, the convocation honoured outstanding alumni, including Sabari Sreekumar, Operations Director of the Chandrayaan-3 mission and ISRO scientist, and V. Sreehari, founder of the globally recognized Revin Krishi app.
Across all campuses of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, over 10,000 students are receiving degrees this year, marking a significant milestone in the university’s ongoing commitment to excellence in education and research.
