AMMACHI Labs Launches Third Phase of Mushroom Cultivation in Dunda Village

The third phase of AMMACHI Labs’ mushroom cultivation initiative has officially commenced in Dunda village, marking another significant step toward promoting sustainable rural livelihoods and women’s empowerment.

Through ongoing coordination with the Government, women in the community received button mushroom bags at a 50% subsidy from the Horticulture Department. This support enables them to begin the next cultivation cycle without delay.

The latest phase builds upon the success of the second cycle (June–July), during which women generated a steady income and reinvested their savings into expanding their units. Motivated by these positive results, participants have now launched four new mushroom cultivation units using their own funds. A total of 15 women and 1 man are actively engaged in this phase.

Looking ahead, a proposal has been submitted to the Horticulture Department to scale the initiative to eight units next year. Under the proposed expansion, the Department will continue to provide subsidised mushroom bags, quality spawn, and essential materials—further strengthening local livelihood opportunities.

This ongoing initiative aims to empower more community members—particularly women—by connecting them to sustainable, income-generating activities while improving local food security.

The project directly supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals:
