Amrita College of Nursing (ACNF) observed the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking with a thought-provoking and empowering program aimed at raising awareness about the importance of drug prevention. The event, attended by 136 students, focused on educating and empowering them on how to combat substance abuse and promote awareness within their communities.

In the inaugural speech, Dr. Lekha Viswanath, Principal of ACNF, highlighted the significance of awareness in preventing drug abuse and urged students to take collective responsibility. She unveiled the theme for the day, aligning it with national drug awareness efforts, and led everyone in a pledge to uphold a drug-free society.

The theme discussion, led by Prof. Libin Joseph, provided an insightful overview of the issue, emphasizing the role of education in eradicating drug abuse. Students engaged in an interactive session, exploring the consequences of substance abuse and discussing proactive steps to combat it. To reinforce the message, a short video presentation was shown, deepening the audience’s understanding of the issue.

The event concluded with a student-led rally, where participants demonstrated their commitment to spreading awareness against drug abuse. Everyone took a pledge to live a drug-free life and promote awareness in their communities.
