In celebration of World Breastfeeding Week, students of Amrita College of Nursing, Faridabad organized a meaningful and impactful awareness drive at CHC Kheri Kalan. The initiative aimed to educate pregnant women, couples planning for pregnancy, and their families on the vital importance of exclusive breastfeeding.
The event began with a warm welcome by the nursing students, setting a compassionate and thoughtful tone. The programme was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) Lekha Viswanath, Principal of Amrita College of Nursing, who addressed the gathering with an inspiring speech. She highlighted the critical role of exclusive breastfeeding in ensuring newborn health and emphasized breastfeeding as a fundamental right of every child.
Prof. (Dr.) Viswanath also unveiled the official theme for World Breastfeeding Week 2025 — “Invest in Breastfeeding, Invest in Future” — a global call to action for sustained support and investment in breastfeeding initiatives. The theme underscores the importance of continued healthcare and community support for mothers throughout their breastfeeding journey.
A role play was performed by students to dispel common myths surrounding breastfeeding, followed by expert-led demonstrations on correct breastfeeding techniques and positioning. Lactation counselors provided personalized guidance and answered queries from expectant mothers and families.
The event concluded on a positive note with a heartfelt testimonial shared by a mother and her husband, reflecting on their pregnancy journey, their commitment to exclusive breastfeeding, and the support they received from each other and their families.
