Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri Campus, has been conferred the prestigious Environmental Protection Award instituted by the Government of Kerala. The institution was recognized in the category of ‘Best Other Institutions Coordinating Environmental Protection Activities’.
The University’s repeated success is attributed to its exemplary achievements in various environmental sectors, including comprehensive initiatives for water and air pollution control, active energy and water conservation programs, and notable projects dedicated to environmental sustainability and social responsibility. The institution was lauded for its exceptional environmental protection work carried out both within the campus and in the surrounding communities under the University’s leadership. This marks a significant milestone, as Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri Campus, has secured this accolade for the third consecutive time.
The award was presented during the ‘Aura 2025 – 50 Years of Environmental Stewardship’ International Environmental Conference, organized as part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the Kerala State Pollution Control Board. The honour was jointly received by Dr. S. N. Jyothi, Associate Dean of the Amrita School of Engineering, and Dr. Bipin G. Nair, Dean of the Amrita School for Biotechnology, at the event venue.
Further highlighting its dedication to sustainability, the Amritapuri Campus had also been selected as the recipient of the State Government’s ‘Paristhithimitram’ Award for the current year. Additionally, the University was named the best institution in district and panchayat level programs, as well as the ‘Vruthi 2025 Clean Kerala Conclave’, which was held as part of the popular ‘Malinyamuktham Nava Keralam’ (Clean New Kerala) public campaign.
