Learning from Ms. Arun Preethi Pillai: Getting the Jobs You Actually Want

Excited to share reflections from our recent colloquium at Amrita School of Business, Coimbatore, where we had the opportunity to engage in an interactive session with Ms. Arun Preethi Pillai on the topic “𝐆𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐉𝐨𝐛𝐬 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐖𝐚𝐧𝐭.”

Unlike a conventional presentation, the session was an open and thought-provoking conversation that challenged us to reflect on our aspirations, fears, and the actions required to build meaningful careers.

Some key insights that truly stood out:

  • Start Before You Feel Ready: The best way to move toward your dream job is to begin —even if it’s small. Action builds clarity and confidence.
  • Build While You Learn: Whether it’s starting a creative page, freelancing, or launching a campus initiative, practical experience reflects entrepreneurial spirit on your resume.
  • Market Yourself with Confidence: Knowing your value and learning how to position yourself is as important as building skills.
  • Stop Comparing, Start Acting: The only question that matters is — can you do it? If yes, take the first step.
  •  Entrepreneurial Mind-set Everywhere: Even within structured academic programs, innovation begins with initiative.

One of the most powerful takeaways was the reminder that dream jobs are not simply found — they are created through courage, experimentation, and consistent effort.
