The National Workshop on ‘Sustaining Innovation: Embedding R&D in State Institutions’ was inaugurated at our Coimbatore Campus with focused deliberations on advancing research and innovation within state institutions.
The 2-day workshop to be held January 8-9, 2026, commenced with the traditional lamp lighting ceremony by Dr. V. K. Paul, Hon’ble Member, NITI Aayog, and Prof. Dr. S. Vincent, Member Secretary, Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology (TNSCST).
Dr. Maneesha Vinodini Ramesh, our Pro-Vice Chancellor underscored the critical role of universities in cultivating robust and sustainable R&D ecosystems. Prof. Dr. S. Vincent, Member Secretary, TNSCST, highlighted the need for coordinated state-level science and technology initiatives and Prof. Vivek Kumar Singh, Senior Adviser, Science & Technology, NITI Aayog, emphasized the importance of integrating research and innovation into state institutions to strengthen long-term innovation
capacity.
The workshop featured a video message from our Chancellor, Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi (Amma) emphasising compassion inclusion, and mindful adaptation to uplift humanity, addressing both social and technological challenges and also highlighted the importance of education not just for learning, but for life itself.
Dr. V. K. Paul, Hon’ble Member, NITI Aayog, presented compelling statistics and challenges associated with sustaining innovations and embedding R&D in state institutions, offering actionable insights for policy and practice.
The inaugural session included a launch of books and reports, including “Changing Dimensions: A Journey from Immersion to Impact” and “Scholars for Sustainability”. A vote of thanks by Dr. P. Ajith Kumar, Registrar, formally concluded the workshop.
