Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham organized a path pradarshan programme to help students in grades 11 and 12 make rightful decisions regarding their post-secondary education. In addition to giving students experience in relation to various academic pathways (degree options), the goal of this programme is for students to have first-hand experience regarding the academic environment, resources and achievements of the university.
The Orientation Session at the start of the Path Pradarshan program provided students with an overview of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s academic programs, application processes and vision. The university provided examples of how to pursue their goals in areas such as academic excellence, conducting research and becoming a good person.
Students who participated in the program toured the Haridwar campus and visited various academic facilities (labs, libraries, hostels) that comprise the university’s academic community. Hands-on demonstrations and experiential learning opportunities were provided to give students exposure to the university’s academic life.
The students and faculty interacted directly with participants, offering information about a variety of disciplines, including engineering and humanities. The students gained perspective on how the programs offered by Amrita address emerging career options and their long-term professional development. During the career counseling sessions students learned about entrance exams, scholarships available, and planning for their future by linking academic decisions with potential job opportunities.
In addition, the program included discussions and questions addressed, where students asked for clarification on research opportunity, placement, campus life, and extracurricular activities. These conversations created an environment for open dialogue and provided participants with a complete view of what it means to be an Amrita student.
The conclusion of the Path Pradarshan programme saw the distribution of various informational materials re-confirming some of the information given in the sessions. The program also created a platform for school students to transition from education in school into aspirations for higher education at a university level as well as showcased Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham as a premier institution of higher learning committed to delivering an innovative, inclusive and holistic education.
