Report on the White Coat Ceremony – Batch of 2025

The White Coat Ceremony for the Batch of 2025 was held on 19th December at the Amriteshwari Auditorium, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, marking a significant milestone in the academic journey of the new medical students. The solemn and inspiring event was followed by high tea, providing an opportunity for interaction among students, faculty, and guests.

The ceremony commenced in an atmosphere of pride and anticipation, setting the tone for the professional responsibilities that lie ahead. The occasion was graced by the Principal, Maj Gen (Dr) T. K. Saha and the Medical Director, Dr Sanjeev Singh, whose inspirational addresses left a lasting impression on the audience. They emphasized the nobility of the medical profession, the importance of compassion alongside competence, and the responsibility that comes with wearing the white coat. Their words encouraged students to remain grounded in ethics, empathy, and lifelong learning as they embark on their medical careers. Other dignitaries including Dr Ashutosh Sharma (Medical Superintendent) , Mr. Jaykesh Nair HR Head, General), Dr Lekha Vishwanathan (Principal College of Nursing), doctors from various departments and faculty offered their encouraging presence at the ceremony.

A specially curated video presentation was screened, featuring interviews of students sharing their experiences, aspirations, and reflections on life at Amrita School of Medicine called the “Anatomy of Medicine”. The video beautifully captured the spirit of the institution, highlighting its academic excellence, values-based education, and supportive learning environment.

Adding to the inspiration of the evening were motivational speeches by Ishaan Gupta and Manya Giri, (II MBBS students) whose words resonated deeply with their peers. They spoke about resilience, purpose, and the transformative journey of becoming a doctor, motivating the batch to embrace challenges with determination and humility.

The most poignant segment of the ceremony was the donning of the white coats. As students were ceremonially vested with their coats, it symbolized their formal induction into the medical profession. This was followed by the pledge, where students collectively vowed to uphold the dignity of the profession, serve humanity with integrity, and practice medicine with compassion, honesty, and responsibility. The moment was deeply moving and marked the transition from aspiration to accountability.

A special highlight of the event was the first-ever Class Representative Investiture Ceremony. Piyush Gupta and Siya Sehgal were formally invested as Class Representatives, receiving their sashes from the CRs of the second and third years. This segment underscored leadership, responsibility, and continuity within the student community.

The ceremony concluded on a note of gratitude and inspiration, with heartfelt thanks offered to Amma, whose vision, blessings, and guidance continue to be the guiding light of Amrita institutions. The White Coat Ceremony not only celebrated the beginning of a medical journey but also reinforced the values of service, compassion, and selfless dedication that define the Amrita ethos.
