Dr. D. M. Vasudevan, Head of the PG Research, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre (AIMS),Kochi, launched Sastramritam 2017, the Science and Technology Extramural Series, of the campus on February 21, 2017.

The Department of Mathematics, School of Arts and Sciences, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Kochi campus, organized events from February 21 - 22, 2017, in connection with the National Science Day. The theme for National Science Day this year was, Science and Technology for Specially abled. The event was sponsored by the Kerala State Council for Science,Technology & Environment (KSCSTE) and supported by the Dept. of Science Technology (DST), Govt. of India

Dr. U. Krishnakumar presided over the function on 21st which was blessed by Pujaneeya Swami Purnamritananda Puri. Reputed Physicist and a former Professor of Maharajas College Ernakulam, Dr. P. S. Sobhan, inaugurated the National Science Day celebrations and conducted a session on‘History of Indian Astronomy and Space Sciences’. This was followed by a quiz competition for the students. Students organized an exhibition on February 22, 2017. Brahmachari Anaghamrita Chaitanya inaugurated the same in the presence of Brahmacharini Sheena, Principal, Amrita Institute of Differently Abled,Palluruthy. Specially abled kids of the Institute, accompanied by their Principal and teachers were the  invited guests. Children entertained the audience with their artistic abilities. Mementos and prizes for quiz competiton were presented to the kids.
