To support sustainable, women-led development in rural India, AMMACHI Labs & Centre for Women’s Empowerment and Gender Equality (CWEGE) have been offering Community Vocational Education and Training (CVET) that equips Self-Help Group (SHG) members and youth with practical, livelihood-oriented skills.
In collaboration with the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM), a two-day income generation training on agarbatti (incense stick) and mombatti (candle) making was successfully conducted for 18 SHG women in Kanti community.
The training was arranged through the efforts of CWEGE’s Community Organizer (CO) and Facilitator, who coordinated closely with Mr. Manoj from NRLM. Training specialist Sunita Devi, led the sessions ensuring women gained hands-on experience in producing items with clear local market potential.
SHG members not only learned new skills, but also gained the confidence to begin their journey toward sustainable, home-based enterprises marking a practical step toward strengthening women’s economic independence in Kanti village
In Girya village, Uttarakhand, CWEGE provided computer training to 22 students, giving them the tools and confidence to pursue learning and livelihood in a digital world. These training programs not only equip women and youth with practical tools for income generation and learning but also foster a sense of agency and confidence.
