STI Hub concludes 9-month Dinacharya Awareness Initiative across 14 Anganwadi Centres

The Dinacharya Awareness Program, led by the STI Hub team as part of its Ayurveda-based interventions, came to a successful close last week with final sessions held at Laipuitlang, Chaltlang-2, and ChanmariWest anganwadicentres. With this, the team has completed a nine-month journey that began in December 2024, reaching a total of 14 Anganwadi Centres and sharing practical knowledge on healthy daily routines with 179 mothers, 232 children, and 23 Anganwadi workers.

The Dinacharya program was developed after a detailed lifestyle survey of over 600 participants across various Mizo communities and locations in Aizawl. The findings highlighted patterns of emerging lifestyle-related health risks, prompting the STI Hub team to design a daily regimen program aimed at preventing, arresting, or counteracting these diseases. To ensure early adoption of healthy practices, a simplified version of this regimen was specially tailored for young children and delivered through their mothers, who are the first and most influential shapers of family routines.

Dinacharya—Ayurveda’s concept of a balanced daily regimen—focuses on cultivating small but consistent lifestyle practices that prevent illness, improve energy, and nurture overall well-being. Over the course of the program, the STI Hub team combined simple explanations, live demonstrations, storytelling, and colourful visuals to make these sessions both informative and enjoyable for caregivers and children alike.

Key themes covered included:

  • Maintaining personal hygiene and oral care
  • Regular sleep and waking patterns for sustained energy
  • Nutritious food choices suited for young children, and
  • Seasonal lifestyle adjustments to strengthen immunity.

By weaving ancient wisdom into modern community health programs, the Dinacharya Awareness Program reflects STI Hub’s commitment to strengthening grassroots health systems through culturally rooted approaches. This effort directly advances the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):

By planting the seeds of healthy living in the Mizo community, the STI Hub team hopes that these simple daily practices, introduced early in life, will help establish healthy habits that last a lifetime.
