95 students and 10 faculty members participated in the 2019 Live-in-Labs® workshop at Amrita’s Coimbatore campus from May 19-24, 2019. Conducted by 5 Live-in-Labs® faculty from the Amritapuri campus, the 6 day workshop provided training on how to identify and understand core challenges in rural communities through human-centered and sustainable approaches. The workshop also included various activities to convey important lessons in collective brainstorming, problem solving, collaborative decision-making, inclusive communication, and active listening.

“The concept that ‘understanding is deeper than knowledge’ was realized through the task sharing approach of the workshop”, said Dr. C. S. Sowndaram, Professional Counsellor, Office of Student Welfare.

“Live-in-Labs® is a program for those who are eager to learn beyond the classroom, for those who wish to broaden their knowledge and impact on society, and for those who have a passion to serve the poor, ” explained Dr. Geetha Srikanth, Assistant Professor, (Sr.Gr.), Center for Computational Engineering and Networking.
