Efficient and eloquent public speaking is a major asset in the skillset of any dynamic leader in the management domain. Understanding its significance, Amrita School of Business (ASB), Coimbatore organized a two-day workshop on public speaking at the campus for its MBA students. An expert in the field of public speaking, Prof. Karen Sneha Moawad, the founder and C.E.O. of Hummingbird Associates, an orthodontic management consulting firm in Washington, conducted the workshop. “The success of world leaders comes from their ability to communicate with passion and confidence,” remarked Prof. Moawad.

The MBA students from Class of 2016 of Amrita School of Business (ASB), Coimbatore presented their Business Research Projects (BRP) at the campus during the Research Day on 31 March 2016. Nearly 100 projects, the works of MBA students and Ph.D. scholars were presented and displayed as posters around the campus. “Research Day is an indication of the fulfillment of our mission, of providing research-oriented education. It’s learning through self-discovery. Our students have collaborated with industry and academic veterans to conduct research on various topics and have successfully, presented their projects at prestigious research conferences including IEEE,” commented Dr. R. Raghu Raman, Chairman, Amrita School of Business, Coimbatore.

A Panel Discussion on the Union Budget after the Budget is presented in the Parliament every year is a flagship event of Amrita School of Business, Bengaluru. This year the event was held on 17th March, 2016, at Amrita School of Business, Bengaluru Campus. The first year MBA-MS students produced a document on the critical review of Union Budget which was published during the event. Dr. Govinda Rao, Member 14th Finance Commission and Emeritus Professor NIPFP, New Delhi; Dr. Ravindran, MD- Max Wealth India Pvt. Ltd. and Mr. Vijai Jayaram, Senior Manager, Deloitte, were members of the panel.

Dr. Amalendu Jyotishi, Professor and Chairperson PhD Program, Amrita School of Business, Bengaluru Campus, presented a paper entitled, “Transitions in Institutions of Gold Mining in the Nilgiri-Wayanad Region of India Since the Early Nineteenth Century: a Property Rights Perspective”, on 11th March, 2016, at the Indian Institute of Science, Department of Management Studies.

Amrita School of Business, Bengaluru campus organized IGNITE 2K16, an Intra Class pitch fest for the MBA-MS students, on 23rd and 24th of February 2016. The theme of the event was "Understanding and Executing the A to Z of How to Begin a Startup" and aimed to kindle entrepreneurial spirit and awareness among the participants. The student teams were given a chance to present their ideas and the panel of judges selected the top three ideas at the end of day sessions.  The event was an opportunity for the students to talk and present their ideas about generation, planning, execution, budgeting and marketing of a start-up company. The students were divided into 10 groups. Each group came up with a business idea. Time allotted was thirty minutes per team. The panel of judges included Ex-COO from Mercedez Benz, Mr. Pradeep Bhargava, Co-Founders of Happy Cook - Mr. Mithun Menon, Mr. Athul & Mr. Arjun and Honorary CTO of Semisolar.com, Prof . Rajkumar, who is also a Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Amrita School of Engineering, Bengaluru and owned three Start Up companies.

As part of Amrita University’s Live-in-Labs™ program, 1st Year Amrita School of Business students from the Amritapuri campus worked with 60 Japanese students on a sustainable community development project in the village of Perumbalam, Alappuzha district, Kerala. The Japanese students, residents of Osaka and Tokyo, came from 18 different universities, such as the University of Tokyo and Kyoto University, to participate in the six day project. The project, which began on February 27th, 2016, was overseen by staff from the Amrita Center for International Programs and faculty from the Amrita School of Business.
