The students in Amrita Rural Education Centers across the country celebrated Vriksh Raksha Bandhan on August 7, 2017. They pledged to protect the environment on day of Raksha Bandhan, an annual rite celebrated by Indians by tying a thread or amulet on the wrist as a form of ritual protection.

Industrial and Systems Engineering, Northern Illinois University (NIU), and Dr. Shanti Muthuswamy, Associate Professor, Department of Technology, Northern Illinois University (NIU), visited Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham campuses at Kochi, Amritapuri and Coimbatore on 17th, 18th and 19th July, 2017.

Amrita Samyogam 2017, an International Conference on Integrative Ayurveda and Modern Medicine was held at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi, on August 6-7. 2017. The conference was attended by more than 1000 delegates representing Ayurveda, Modern Medicine and Modern Science.
The cultural wing of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri campus, Samskriti, organised a one day Bharatanatyam workshop for the students of Amritapuri Campus, on 23rd, July, 2017.
Amrita faculty members published a new journal paper titled, “Augmented Reflective Learning and Knowledge Retention Perceived among Students in Classrooms Involving Virtual Laboratories”, in Education and Information Technologies- the official journal of the IFIP Technical Committee on Educations.
Dr. Sreekala C.O., Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, Amrita School of Arts and Sciences, Amritapuri, was selected as a research fellow by the Science Academies’ Summer Research Fellowship Programme for Students and Teachers (SRFP) 2017.
As part of Amrita Online Labs training programme, AmritaCREATE, a research initiative of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, organized a one-day workshop on Online Labs for School Lab Experiments (O-Labs) at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Joshimath, Uttarakhand, on July 4, 2017. The training program was attended by twelve science teachers from three schools.
Dr. Shyam Diwakar presented ongoing work on Computational Neuroscience and his comments on future research at the one-day workshop for Young Faculty Research Fellows organised at Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru by Media Labs Asia and Ministry of Electronics and IT, Government of India on July 28, 2017.
