AmritaCREATE, a research initiative of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, organized an Amrita Online Labs teachers training program for science teachers at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Kadavanthra, Kochi, Kerala, on May 28, 2017. The training program was attended by thirty-eight biology teachers from twenty-seven Kendriya Vidyalaya schools.
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham released the results for the PG Admissions 2017 – Amrita School of Biotechnology on June 12, 2017.
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham was awarded the ‘World Centre of Excellence on Landslide Disaster Reduction’ by the International Program on Landslides (IPL) at the fourth World Landslide Forum, which was held at Ljubljana, Slovenia from 29th May-2nd June, 2017. This title will be held by the institution till 2020.
Mr. Sreeram Kongeseri, a PhD Student and Research Associate at AMMACHI Labs, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, participated in the 2017 CASOS Summer Institute at Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburg, USA, which was conducted from 4th -10th June, 2017.
Interdisciplinary and multi-disciplinary studies are key to many success stories of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s research projects. Ministry of HRD’s National Mission in Education through Internet and Communication Technologies (NMEICT) had funded a massive project on building Virtual Laboratories for students who did not have access to laboratory education and skill training.
AmritaCREATE, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, conducted a teacher training program on Online Labs for School Lab Experiments (O-Labs) at Radcliffe School, Bengaluru, Karnataka, on May 25, 2017. Fifteen science teachers from the school participated in the training programme.
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s Summer Camp students and Amrita Multi Modal Application Using Computer and Human Interaction’s (AMMACHI Lab) Community Organizers in Kimana and Dunda villages celebrated World Environment Day on June 5, 2017, by planting trees and plants. An event also was organized at Nani Borvai village in Gujarat.
AMMACHI Labs team along with Amrita SeRVe and Mata Amritanandamayi Math, Manglore, introduced a machine that makes Areca nut plates in Byse village of Karnataka. These eco friendly and biodegradable nut plates are made from the leaves fallen from Areca nut trees. The production of these plates comes in two sizes- 10” & 4.5″. This initiative is expected to generate income for the women in Byse and be a suitable replacement for the widely used plastic plates. The team from Amrita has successfully completed the skill training for the women in Byse village.
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s VALUE Virtual Labs research team conducted Annual Nodal Centre Conference on May 12, 2017, at Amritapuri Campus, as a part of the VALUE Nodal Center Program.
